Happy New Year's Eve

Just a short update today.

Brendan is doing well. His appetite has really picked up so he spent much of the night in Dana's arms. While that let me get a good night's sleep it left Dana a little tired. She's tried to sneak a nap ot two in today, but Brendan's been looking for something to eat most of the day. He doesn't really cry about it, but licks his lips and roots around. I guess you might call him a "milk junkie". Good thing Karen Yamada sent us an appropriate hat. Thanks Karen!!

You can see pretty clearly that Brendan's developed himself a little rash on his face. Dr. said it was normal and will go away, so they don't even treat it. He's also getting a little yellow on his face. They tested for jaundice, but was negative. They were going to test again later, but again, they said nothing to worry about.

They drew some blood today for the PKU test and he didn't even cry for a second. I'm impressed with his stoicism (must have inherited THAT trait from Dana).

Dana, Brendan and I took a few laps around the nurses station last night and again this afternoon. She needs to keep moving to aid in her recovery, and she's doing a great job. She's got her appetite back and is craving some salt so I came home to pick up a bag of Goldfish.

Here's a picture of the flowers we've received from her boss and her dad. Thanks again!

More later.

Day 2 and all's well

Day 2 has been fantastic. Dana is up and about, which is great. No more IV which makes her particularly happy. Brendan is spending more time with his eyes open. He very rarely cries and when he does it is only for a couple seconds. His appetite is good. He's given me plenty of Number 2 diapers to change. So far he hasn't given me a splash down while I'm changing him! The night was fairly uneventful, but I didn't really get any sleep until about 3:30 this morning. Brendan was gurgling and cooing much of the night and so I wasn't sure if he needed something or was just entertaining himself.

Today Dana received some nice flowers from her boss Pam and from her Dad, so we thank them for those (pictures tomorrow). Her mom will be coming down from LA on Sunday so he'll get his REAL spoiling! We'd also like to say thanks to all of the warm wishes we've received. When we get a little more time we'll thank you all personally.

For now, just a few pictures to keep you all updated. And even though we've shared the news with you all, we'll be sending out 'official' birth announcements.

Picture pages, picture pages, open up your picture pages

Anyone remember Picture Pages with Bill Cosby? Anyway... here's some additional pictures of our bouncing baby boy!

All Systems A Go!!

OK, we're back from the doctor and tomorrow's the day. 10:30 am we're scheduled so in about 15 hours we're going to be proud parents. Yeah!

Our cat Sara seems to know that something is going on. At any given time in the day you can find Sara in some close proximity to Dana....like this.

Brendan FAQ

Brendan FAQ..

Q: How's Dana feeling?
A: READY!!

Today's the day we find out if we are going to meet Brendan tomorrow. Our doctor's appointment is in a couple hours. Will post the results when we have them. Found out today that my co-worker Josh and his wife are going to be delivering their son on Friday, so we're in a dead heat race to the finish line! Lot's of happenings in Pulte's CRM Department. Good luck Josh and Becky.

In the meantime, here's a few more pictures.

Our moms spent the holiday with us. I like to call it our last quiet Christmas! Here's a picture of Dana and I in front of our Holiday, er, Christmas Tree. We had a nice time. I went with my mom to the Wild Animal Park. They had a baby lion (5 weeks old) in their nursery and he was quite the attraction.

Here's a picture of Brendan's nursery. Dana found the prints above his crib from a web site. They're cute. The quilt was a gift from my mom for Christmas. We've got Eeyore posted on the headboard to keep an eye on things for us. Also visible are the bouncy chair and the Papasan swing. That swing is pretty cool, so hopefully he'll like it.

Last picture for now shows all of Brendan's friends just waiting for him to show up. Dana's mom got Brendan the California license plate for Christmas. My mom and I picked up 3 more friends at the Wild Animal Park. I'm sure more will be added in the future!!

I'm going to fiddle around with the blog to see if I can't create some pages that allow us to just list a bunch of pictures to make it easier for you to navigate around.

I tried to set this blog up so that you can post some comments without having to register. Let us know what you think!

Welcome friends and family

Welcome and Merry Christmas!

This will be the place to get all of your Brendan information. We figured with all of our friends and family spread across the country that this would be the easiest way to share information and photos on how he's doing, and maybe even keep you up to date on how we're doing!

Brendan hasn't made his debut, as yet. Dana goes in to see the Dr. on Wednesday to determine if a c section will be necessary. Depending on the results we could be delivering Brendan on Thursday the 29th! As soon as we do we'll call as many of you as possible, but you should continue to check back here daily for updates. We do have some pictures we can share with you.

This was one of Brendan's first ultrasounds. We've got tons of pictures like this.

This is sort of one of those 3D images. Not sure if that creeps any of you out, but I thought it was kind of cool looking. Even though he sort of looks like he's being carved out of marble, this picture makes him look more human than the standard 2D ultrasound.

Just one more picture to share at this time. This is roughly what Brendan's room will look like when he comes home. Since this picture was taken we've gotten him his bouncy seat and his Papasan swing. We've also put 3 cute animal prints on the walls and added another dozen or so stuffed animals to the menagerie

Well, once again, please use this as the location to get more information and photos of Brendan. The URL is brendannoelbrown.blogspot.com (no www is necessary!!)

Hope you had a good Christmans.

Robert, Dana (and Brendan)
